VANCE Kenneth R. “Ken” Montgomery, age 63, of Vance, died May 1, 2013, at home. Memory Chapel Funeral Home, a Dignity Memorial Provider, is in charge of arrangements.

To honor Ken's wishes, there will be no visitation or public service. A small family gathering to celebrate his life will be held today from 2 to 4 p.m. at his sister's home in the Country Oaks subdivision with Pastor David Ward presiding.

He was preceded in death by his father, L. Raymond Montgomery, former City of Tuscaloosa Deputy Fire Chief.

Survivors include his wife, Susan Caffee Montgomery; his mother, Grace Williams Montgomery; his stepson, J. Owen Broughton; and his sister, Delores Montgomery Ryan.

Mr. Montgomery was a 1972 graduate of Livingston University. He was a retired general contractor.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Children's Hospital.
