TUSCALOOSA William Ryan deGraffenried, Jr., age 56, died Dec. 7, 2006. A memorial service will be held Sunday, Dec. 10, 2006 at 2 p.m. at The First Presbyterian Church in Tuscaloosa. The family will receive friends in the Family Life Center at the church following the service with Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William Ryan deGraffenried and Margaret Neil Maxwell deGraffenried, and his sister, Deborah deGraffenried.

Survivors include his wife, Dr. Sandra Sims-deGraffenried; children, William Ryan deGraffenried III and his wife Jennifer of Tuscaloosa, Frances deGraffenried of Tuscaloosa, Marla Robinson and her husband Darryl of Danville, and Todd Hardwick Sims of Huntsville; a sister, Dana deGraffenried Taylor and her husband Bob of Northport; aunt, Grace Baswell of Huntsville; uncles, Guy Maxwell of Dadeville and Edward deGraffenried of Calistoga, Calif.; nieces, Margaret Johnson Cornwell and her husband Joey of Ferrum, Va. and Julie Goodwin and her husband Jeff of Tuscaloosa; grandchildren, Stella Grace deGraffenried of Tuscaloosa, Slater and Garrett Robinson of Danville, and Todd Hardwick Sims, Jr. of Huntsville.

Mr. deGraffenried was born April 2, 1950 and was a graduate of Tuscaloosa High School, The University of Alabama, and The Cumberland School of Law.
