MACON, Miss. | Roger C. "Bubba" Banks, age 64, died, Feb. 28, 2015 at Baptist Memorial Hospital in Columbus, Miss. Chaplain Mark Coker conducted the funeral service March 4, 2015, at Calvary Baptist Church in Macon, Miss. Internment followed at Pleasant Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Eutaw, Ala.
Roger C. "Bubba" Banks was born on August 14, 1950 in Tuscaloosa, Ala. His father Roy Chester Banks, mother Mary Katherine Elizabeth Hill Banks Hocutt and his "daddy" John Hocutt, Sr. preceded him in death.
Mr. Banks is survived by his wife, Patricia Jones Banks of Macon, Miss.; one daughter, Sherron Barron (Dwayne) of Millbrook, Ala.; three sons; Sam Pasco (Kimberly) of Northport, Ala., Tyrone Banks (Brittany) of Hamilton, Miss., and Johnathan Banks (Michele) of Crawford, Miss. He is also survived by four sisters, Nancy Banks Green Marlowe (Chris) of Kyle, Texas, Josephine Hocutt Sweet (Paul) of Front Royal, Va., Charlotte Hocutt Elledge (Mike) of Tuscaloosa, Ala., and Nora Hocutt Swedenburg (Jim) of Prattville, Ala.; and one brother; John Hocutt, Jr. of Cottondale, Ala.; as well as by eleven grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Over twenty years in the construction field, Mr. Banks worked as a Licensed Realtor, a Licensed Contractor and owned his construction company. He was elected and served as the President of the Southeast Louisiana Home Builders Association.
Mr. Banks worked as a paramedic upon earning his Paramedic Certification from the University of Mississippi.
After moving to Macon Mississippi, he owned and operated P.B.'s Place. The last twenty years Bubba was a self-employed taxidermist.
Family and friends will always remember Bubba as a superior cook, avid outdoorsman and the best "bear hugger". Many will remember his kind heart, loving spirit and hospitality. Mr. Banks was a member of First Baptist Church in Macon, Miss.
