TUSCALOOSA Michael Charles McDonald, age 61, of Tuscaloosa, passed away peacefully in the company of loved ones Saturday, Oct. 15, 2011. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel. Burial will follow in Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Tuscaloosa Memorial Chapel Funeral Home directing. Visitation will be one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Maxine McDonald, and aunt, Leona Hobson.

He is survived by his sons, Douglas McDonald of Tuscaloosa and Richard McDonald (Jaime) of Denver, Colo.; grandson, Gavington McDonald of Denver, Colo.; sisters, Sheila Roberts (Wayne) of Tuscaloosa and Louann Standifer (Wayne) of Clanton; and brothers, Larry McDonald (Cecile) of Tuscaloosa and David McDonald (Carolyn) of Tuscaloosa.

Known to many as "Hash Brown", Mike worked for the Tuscaloosa Fire Dept. for over 20 years as a firefighter and rescue crewman. His talents for business negotiation and all types of mechanical repair were something to marvel. Mike's courage in the face of terminal illness will forever be admired.

Pallbearers will be Richard McDonald, Kevin Whitten, Randy Smith, Mike Mitchum, David McDonald, and Wayne Standifer.
