He was preceded in death by his parents, Lawrence and Trannie Jacobs.

Survivors include his wife Connie L. Jacobs, two sons, Alex Jacobs and Joseph W. Jacobs, brothers, Danny Jacobs (Mary), John Jacobs (Joanna) and Larry Jacobs (Liz). Gary and his wife Connie have been married for 28 years.

Gary, with his brother John, was a part of Jacobs Plumbing. Jacobs Plumbing has been a successful plumbing business for over 43 years that continues to serve the Tuscaloosa and surrounding community.

Gary graduated from Tuscaloosa High School in 1968. Participating in football and other sports, lifetime friends were made with fellow Tuscaloosa Black Bears

Gary lived life like he wanted to and there was always a story. Afternoons at his favorite spot Harry’s Bar led to numerous connections and friends. Those connections led to Gary being introduced to the infamous Tallahassee Boys and the rest is history.

His love for the lake, along with friends and connections brought many people together to create one big lake family. His house was always filled, whether it be his and his wife’s old buddies, his children’s friends or anyone who was brave enough to tackle a days work at the lake to relax in the water. This led to the Memorial Day gathering tradition that still continues every year with new and old faces alike.

Gary spent his afternoons watching his garden grow and taking out any weed that tried to invade. His companions Copper and Moose could be seen following behind the riding lawn mower cutting any grass in his path.

In lieu of flowers donations can be made to Hospice of West Alabama.
