Doris was a woman of virtue and grace, living a life characterized by beauty and love. Her laughter was contagious and her hospitality unmatched. She had the heart of a servant and the patience of a saint. After graduating from Tuscaloosa County High School, she attended The University of Alabama earning a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish, Master of Arts in Education and AA-certificate. She selflessly taught numerous students through her 32-year career as an educator in Tuscaloosa County, but left a lasting impression on every person that met her. She served as Key Club advisor, was involved in ADK, and active in AEA. After retiring from teaching, she worked in the family business, the Spa Shop for numerous years.
She was a charter member of South Highlands Baptist Church and member of First Baptist Church, Tuscaloosa for the past 25 years. At FBC, she enjoyed fellowshipping with the women in her Sunday school class and participating in Triple-L. Her favorite past times included traveling, needlework, and spending time in the kitchen with her grandchildren. Doris was married to Ron, the only man she ever loved, for 55 beautiful years. Her loving commitment to her family was a glorious reflection of her devotion to Christ. ""You've given me all the things that make life happy – a home, a family, a shoulder to lean on...and most of all, your love!""
