Tuscaloosa -- Carolyn Flanagan Whitfield, age 48, died October 7, 1998 at DCH Regional Medical Center.  Graveside services will be Friday at 10 am at Tuscaloosa Memorial Park with Heritage Funeral Home directing.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas C. Whitfield; a daughter, Meredith Harden Whitfield, her mother, Mrs. Doris R. Flanagan, and a brother Burton Flanagan.  She was preceded in death by her father, L. E. Flanagan.

She was retired from the Tuscaloosa City School system.  She was graduated from Tuscaloosa High School and the University of Alabama.  She was presented at the Tuscaloosa Holiday Cotillion and was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority and the Jr. League of Tuscaloosa.  In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Christ Episcopal Church or the DCH Diabetes Center.
