CHATTANOOGA, TENN. | Mr. Alan Bennett, 52, died October 7, 2002 in a Chattanooga Hospital after an extended illness. Mr. Bennett was a financial advisor, had previously been a staff reporter for several newspapers in Alabama and Florida.
He was a graduate of the University of Alabama and a member of The First United Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by his mother Anne Bennett.
Mr. Bennett is survived y his father, William R. Bennett of Huntsville; sister, Patricia Purushotham of Huntsville; nephew, William Purushotham of Huntsville; uncle, Bruce Armstrong (Frances) of Athens, Ga.; several cousins; godchild, Julia LeNoir of Birmingham and several friends, Don and Charlotte Wheeler of Tuscaloosa.
Visitation will be Thursday at 1 p.m. at Heritage Chapel. Services will be at 2 p.m. in the chapel, Dr. Ken Dunivant will officiate. Memorials may be made to College of Communications and Information Sciences at the University of Alabama for the A. Bennett Memorial Scholarship or to the Bennett Computer Center at the First United Methodist Church. Heritage Chapel Funeral Home is directing.
